Fly Fishing in Shropshire & Herefordshire

About our Club

We are a small private fly fishing club with extensive fishing on the Rivers Clun, Kemp and Lugg in Shropshire and Herefordshire. The club was established in 1955 and has average membership of around 25. The rivers are not extensively fished by all members, over the past two years we have had a rod average of over 6 fish per visit, the more expert among us can catch over 20 fish per visit.

We fish for wild brown trout and grayling on the beautiful River Clun near Craven Arms in Shropshire where we have access to three beats, approximately 4 miles, of mainly double bank fishing, with smaller beats on the Kemp and Redlake. We also have 4 beats around 4 miles on the River Lugg around Presteigne on the Welsh border.

All rivers are situated in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings of the Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys borders and have an excellent head of free rising trout and grayling.

The rivers have high water quality and very good natural fly life with excellent Mayfly hatches. The average size of trout caught is between 6-10 inches and grayling slightly larger.
